The primary role of Witchards Society is to act as guardians (no, not that sort) for the games, world and community that College of Wizardry has created down the years. We hope that you, our community, feel that we are doing so in a way that is inclusive and respectful of the hard work and dedication that our players, crew and organisers have put into these amazing games. As a part of the constitution of the Society, we are wholly answerable to our members. And each year we hold our General Assembly meeting with the members, where vacant Board positions are filled, our constitution can be changed or amended, and the membership can help guide the direction of the Society and the games. Our next GA is scheduled to be held in February 2025, and we’d love to see as many of you there as possible. For a little while we have been talking, amongst the Board, about the cost of membership. 50€ is not a small amount, and whilst it is bundled with a T-Shirt and a 25€ discount on a Witchards Society event, it is still a bunch of money to find. Therefore, earlier in the year, we polled our members to see if there was support for a cheaper membership fee, and having seen the results we have decided to introduce a new membership option. From now on, for 10€ you will be able to join Witchards Society as a full member. This grants the same membership rights as the 50€ deal, but without the shirt and discount. The 50€ membership will remain as an option for those who like the event discount and a fancy t-shirt. We hope that this will eliminate any barriers to joining the Society for people for whom 50€ was just too high a commitment, and encourage more of you to join us. |
Use your discount for community events
We are committed to trying to improve things for our members, as well as the wider community; and have worked really hard to develop a package of support for community run events. We are pleased to say that we have seen a large increase in the number of community members stepping forward to offer events, with Northcott Gala 2, Liminal Domain and Fractured Fates announced and selling tickets; and a bunch of other community events in various stages of planning. You can, as ever, see more about the events via https://witchards.com/events/
To support both community event producers and members, we are pleased to announce that the 25€ membership discount can now be used with community events. Should any member wish to do so, they’ll need to get in touch with us, and we can arrange to reimburse them that amount after they’ve purchased a ticket for a community event. Whilst this is a slightly clunky way of implementing this, it is easier than trying to arrange transfer of funds between multiple organisations. Email us at [email protected] and we will sort things out!
Witchards Society have a bunch of plans to take the game, membership and wider community forward over the coming years; we hope that you would like to come with us on the journey. Your support and friendship means the world to us, and we hope to see you at the General Assembly.
